2022 Mediterranean Regattas

Special J/World Racing Events

J/World Performance Sailing is excited to announce that we will be running three special racing events in the Mediterranean in the summer of 2022.  Pent up demand for our racing experiences and alumni interested in sampling new events has encouraged us to expand our offerings, so each year we will be targeting events around the globe which have great appeal for sailors and racers of all sorts.  Next August-October you can choose from two distance events and one buoy event.  Each regatta will have three or four coaches aboard, and participants will be involved in all aspects of sailing the vessel.  Make no mistake, these are not the typical ‘cattle boat’ experiences which dominate the pay-to-play market.  These are coached events with world class instructors helping you achieve your personal goals.  J/World has been coaching sailors for 40 years, and running big boat programs for over 20 years. There are many good reasons for this longevity, and our programs are like none others in the world.  Take a look at the exciting options below, and contact us for details or to make a reservation.  Spaces are obviously very limited!

*Please note that these events are a good time off, so official dates are not completely confirmed and might vary slightly. If your schedule is tight, please contact us for the latest info, and we will be  updating this page as dates are released by the organizing authorities.

Palermo to Monte Carlo

August 17-24, 2022 – SOLD OUT

The Palermo-Monte Carlo Race is one of the most prestigious races in the Mediterranean. Founded in 2005 to unite the cities of Palermo and Monte Carlo through a yacht race, this event offers both technical grand-prix racing and beautiful landscapes. The event is one of the most important and renowned offshore regattas of the Mediterranean Sea, and it is part of numerous international circuits.

The regatta starts in the city of Palermo — one of the most interesting cities in Italy. Palermo is called the city of contrasts: fashionable hotels and the ruins of old houses are next to each other here. It is definitely worth it to set aside some time to explore the city yourself.

On the 500 mile passage north, boats will have to pass through a “gate” off Porto Cervo – Sardinia, before heading to Monaco on the Côte d’Azur. The racing is competitive, and the landscapes of Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica are amazing. This is an ideal event for sailors who enjoy a warm breeze and warm water and enjoy the challenges of tricky tactics.

J/World will be racing a well-found and competitive J/122.

Les Voiles De Saint-Tropez

September 24-October 1, 2022

Could Les Voiles de Saint Tropez be the ultimate gathering of yachts and celebration of sailing in the world?  First run over 35 years ago as La Nioulargue, the regatta gathers together the most extraordinary collection of yachts, from the ultra modern to the most beautiful traditional yachts including the amazing J Class. A host of racers and sailing enthusiasts come from all over the globe to do battle in the bay of Saint-Tropez.

The first week of the event hosts the smaller modern racing boats (us!) and the classic yachts.  Carbon and timber competing on the same waters with the backdrop of a classic European town.  The week after our event, the mega yachts roll into town.  It might be worth sticking around for a bit to see some of the most stunning modern sailing vessels on the planet line up in the waters of the Med.

This fabulous event is based out of the Old Port of St Tropez, a vibrant, traditional and beautiful setting for the activities which take place every evening around the harbor. Behind the Old Port, there are a maze of back streets hiding some excellent boutique restaurants, café bars and shops.

J/World will be racing a well-found and competitive J/122 and a custom Lombard 46.

Rolex Middle Sea Race

October 19-29, 2022

Starting from the Grand Harbour in Valletta, Malta, beneath Fort St Angelo and the Saluting Battery, the fleet heads northeast along the coast of Sicily, towards the Straits of Messina. You can usually spot Mount Etna and hear the Volcano rumble.

The course heads north from the Straits in the direction of Stromboli, another active volcano, where the yachts then turn west to the Egadi Islands. After reaching Favignana the fleet heads south towards the island of Lampedusa with the island of Pantelleria on their port side. Once they have passed Lampedusa the fleet is on the home straight towards Malta and the finish at Marsamxett Harbour.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race is a challenge for both skippers and crews. Everyone has to be on their A-Game to cope with the demanding and often changeable conditions on the 606nm course.

J/World will be racing a well-found and competitive J/122.
