52′ Performance Cruising Cat

Pedigreed Custom Catamaran PUNK is For Sale

Enrico Contreas and Marco Veglia design, built by Mattia in northern Italy, lying San Diego, $950K. Coming to market, Summer 2025.  Contact wayne@sailing-jworld.com for information.

PUNK is a stunning and exceptional vessel.  A performance package wrapped in Italian style. This custom built catamaran comes from the drawing board of renowned multihull design team headed by Enrico Contreas.  This is a rare find, a true performance oriented fast cruising cat with luxurious accommodations and a pedigree that is best-in-class, a clear gem standing out from the mass production options in terms of design, build quality, and appearance. You can forget about the plastic cookie-cutter production models, she is the perfect boat for the discriminating multihull enthusiast.

Enrico Contreas and Marco Veglia are renowned designers, with illustrious backgrounds in creating best-in-class multihulls. Their designs include many successful vessels, including the acclaimed Ice Cat 61, Ice Cat 67, C-Cat 56, C-Cat 62, Slyder 46, Neo 560, etc. In 2010 they were commissioned to design a custom boat for a knowledgeable Italian sailor.  Two boats were built, crafted by Mattia, a boutique boatyard in northern Italy.  PUNK is hull #2 of 2, initially launched in 2011 but fully finished in 2015.  No detail was overlooked, no expense spared. The expertise of the designer and builder are evident in the functionality and build quality of the vessel.   A powerful sailplan flown from a Paguro carbon rig (2015), large carbon daggerboards, and a light displacement make her a joy to sail.  Elegant modern lines and truly eye-catching aesthetics insure that she is a real stand out on the water and in the marina.

The shape of the hulls have been optimized to ensure a gentle entry to reduce pitch and hydrodynamic drag. The hulls and deck were made using vacuum infusion and closed cell foam to increase stiffness and reduce weight, while providing greater resistance to degenerative processes such as osmosis and stratified delamination. The large curved carbon daggerboards provide exceptional upwind and reaching performance.

The light oak finished interior is a breath of fresh air, distinguishing her from the flatness of the white fiberglass ‘cabinetry’ that has flooded the modern production market. The finishes and fixtures are all of highest quality.  Electric heads can be used with fresh or salt water. Grey and black water tanks insure compliance with discharge regulations worldwide. The 220v electrical system had a Victron Isolation Transformer added upon arrival in the US to accommodate 110v usage, making her dual voltage capable.  A new Cummins Onan generator and new solar panels provide power when away from the dock, and a 200 liter per hour Schenker watermaker keeps the fresh water flowing.  Bosch washing machine, Bosch dishwasher.  Vitrifigo refrigerator, freezer, and icemaker. Webasto heaters (2). Large dedicated engine and mechanical rooms create a quiet interior living space and more than ample space for systems maintenance.  This boat has it all and is ready to go sailing.

The build of PUNK was completed in 2011, however she was not fully finished until 2015 when the carbon rig, rod rigging, and membrane sails were added.  She was lightly sailed seasonally in the Mediterranean by her Italian owner and stored on the hard in the northern Adriatic when not in use. Her current owner, a professional sailor, purchased the vessel in 2021, cruised the Med, then crossed the Atlantic and brought her to he current homeport in San Diego, California.  Many upgrades were added, including some new sails, new carbon wheels, new helm stations and engine panels, new batteries, new RIB dinghy, new dual voltage system (110v and 220v), new solar panels and controller, etc. The boat has been professionally maintained to a high standard and shows beautifully.

You have seen enough of the Catana, Outremer, HH, Seawind, and Balance boats. Some of them are fine vessels to be sure. But if production boats leave you wanting a bit more warmth, personality, quality, and attention to detail, then take a look at PUNK.  Now available for viewing in San Diego, California.
