Membership Information
J World, the Performance
Sailing School and Club, offers memberships and bareboat charters to our
alumni and any sailor with
US Sailing Basic Cruising certification,
or equivalent experience. For those sailors wanting to acquire
certification we can arrange that for you. Look at our

Instruction information, or contact us for information. All
memberships and bareboat charters are contingent upon successful completion of a check-out
sail.
Membership Fees:
NO Monthly Dues! There is
a $250 one-time administrative/check-out fee. Each J80
rental is only $250 per day (racing charters are higher), and you
get club rates on other fleet vessels.
That's it! There
are no monthly dues, and no hidden costs. You pay only when
you sail. And we have some of the best rates on the Bay...

Eligibility:
Due to the sometimes
challenging conditions which can arise unexpectedly, any skipper desiring to bareboat charter vessels
within the J World Club are expected to demonstrate proficient
sailing skills. All club candidates are expected to do the
following:

Sailors must have
completed J World’s
Performance Cruising Course (or elsewhere attained the
US Sailing Basic Cruising
Certification), OR provide complete documentation attesting
to equivalent experience (click
here for details).

All sailors must
have a good familiarity with their intended sailing venue,
including prevailing
conditions, and dominant weather patterns.

All candidates must
pass a written, multiple choice test administered by our staff.

Candidates must
complete, to our satisfaction, an on-the-water demonstration of
skill, including such maneuvers as heaving -to, reefing,
crew-overboard recovery, and docking under sail.
Process:
Please submit to our office
a brief sailing resume, including copies of any certifications you
might have earned, then contact us to schedule your checkout.
Please note that there is a $250 checkout fee.
Restrictions:
Navigational limits apply on
all charters. San Francisco Bay charters are restricted to the
waters east of the Golden Gate Bridge. Puerto Vallarta charters are
limited to the waters from Cabo Corrientes north to Punta Mita.
Anchoring and mooring is permitted only in designated anchorages,
and is not allowed in certain areas. Overnight sailing is not
permitted. Singlehanded sailing is not permitted. All boats must be
secured no later than two hours before sunset. Other restrictions
and limitations apply; please contact us and refer to your charter
contract.
Payment & Cancellation Policy:
A 50% non refundable deposit is required to reserve a vessel.
For day charters, the balance is due 7 days prior to the charter.
For charters of multiple days, full payment is required 30 days
prior to the charter. Further restrictions apply, so please
read our payment and cancellation policy here.
