The J World East Bay base in Oakland
operates out of the ever popular Jack London Square. The protected waters
between Alameda and Oakland (often referred to simply as "the
Estuary," but technically known as the Oakland Inner Harbor) are
ringed with numerous marinas,
boatyards, and marine related businesses. It is an area truly
steeped in maritime history.
Sharing the same local waters as our
Alameda office (the two locations are just across the estuary form
each other), we have a wide range of sailing conditions which are easily
accessible. The calm inner harbor opens up on the South Bay of
San Francisco. This region typically sees 12-14 knots with
small chop. The wide-open waters provide a perfect venue for
most of our sailing programs, and the scenic San Francisco city
front provide a fabulous backdrop.
For introductory level sailors who have
raised their ability levels, or for advanced sailors, the Central
Basin is a short sail away. This portion of the Bay is world
renowned for the consistent summer breezes which can build to
blustery conditions in the afternoons.
J World offers all of its courses from
the East Bay base.
